I briefly heard there was a drowning at Castaic. Did anyone else hear this tragic story? How did this happen?

Yes, there was a drowning. It was a nine year old girl and a four year old. The nine year old died and I beleive the four year old was hospitalyzed. They were swimming in the lagoon on the east shore in front of three no swimming signs. One might wonder where were the parents?

This was a tragic event at the lower lake. The swimming area is free to access. It is also closed to swimming until memorial day. Maybe they'll arrest the adults who were responsible for watching these kids.

The swimming area is on the west shore. Yes, no swimming on the east side. But, regardless where they were swimmimg, the parents should have been looking out for them. 9 year & a 4 year old should not be swimming by themselves. Such a sad outcome.

Befor the drowning the police went from one end to the other on the east side to tell the parents that there were no swimm but as soon as they left one swim beach the people went back in even after that they started to ticket the offenders. but it made no difference. I think they should fence the whole lake and make people pay to enter the park it may help to keep people who dont respect the park law down to a min.
