But, how do I rig the hook? I tried a 3/0 EWG hook, rigging it so it went thru the weight-wire's V and came out near the tail end. Is that correct?

Try a Owner Mosquito hook, size #2 or #4.
Nose hook it right through the metal V in the nose of the bait.
This bait is designed to fish 'backwards' meaning that the head of the crawdad is facing toward you on the retreive. I've messed with it a little and my main impression is that its a lure you just have to fish really really really slow.

Thanks guys. I should have looked at the videos first.

I ran the hook back thru the bait instead of just running it thru the V, leaving the point exposed.

I saw a post on Westernbass by about a problem with ordering from Huddleston, but Ron Cervenka had some rigging tips included. It's about half way down on the posts, check out the link... Good luck I'm going to give in and order some..

There's the link.

Thanks very much Leroy. I read the posts and will try it with a circle hook. It's going to take a long time for it to get to the bottom without a weight or weighted hook though.
