Some of you may have heard mention of a new book that just came out called 'Sowbelly The Obsessive Quest for the World Record Largemouth Bass' by Monte Burke. I had a chance to read the book right when it came out and let me tell you, if you have even a passing interest in the world record bass ... you really need to get a copy and read this book!
This is not a book about how to fish, this is a book about the people who pursue the world record bass today and the people who have pursued it in the past. It also of course goes into great detail about George Perry and his 22lb 4oz largemouth that got the whole ball rolling. There are sections about Perry, Bob Crupi, Mike Long, Porter Hall, Jed Dickerson, Mac Weakly, Mike Wynn, Jerry Rago, Mickey Ellis and several other people who are 'part of the game' if you will. Once you pick it up to read it, you won't want to put it down :)

haha, thats funny man. It took me a few days to finish it for lack of time but I re-read some of the chapters twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Now your friends are going to want to borrow it, just watch :)
Just finished re-reading four of the chapters...I'm glad it's not just me. I'm not going to fool with it again...until tomorrow...honest. Tree Happiness is a tight line and a stiff pole.
I went out to a Barnes and Noble and found it last night after reading these posts. I agree. This is fascinating and I couldn't live further from trophy Bass country. This is a great read!
My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, and I've already dropped a "HINT" to my wife on what to get me..I'm anxious to read this book..Nathan www.Bettencourtbaits.com
I'm not only impressed with the fishing accomplishments of these guys, but their ability to fish 5 to 7 days a week and not have their wives kill them! LOL
I was impressed with their stamina and abilty to stay focussed for the duration and number of days they talked about. I thought I fished pretty hard because I go half the days of the year (my wife is good with it)These guys make me look a little weak hearted. Tree Happiness is a tight line and a stiff pole.
