#383, "Slammer Fish--Finally!!!" Thu Dec-27-01 01:40 AM by swimbait
I went out to Lake Wholford yesterday for a half of day fishing. Xmas day was great, but doesn't lend itself to getting up early the next morning...many cocktails, good laughs and great food.
Anywho, I got to the lake around noon! I felt like Rob!!!! Wholford has stained water. I figured this might be a good opportunity to get one on the Slammer. The water is real low in Wholford, and I started as far back as I could from the launch. I caught my one and only strike of the day on my 15th or so cast. She was about 5lbs. I didn't have another follow or bite the rest of the afternoon. I don't know why I couldn't get any followers going....???

Nice one! Sorry for not giving you a call yesterday. I honestly didn't know where Bass World West was until Brian told me when we were half way there. I had no idea it was so far South. Glad you got a nice one on the plug. I guess you could say you're 1 for 1 :-)

Mike,
I'm on board with the Slammer for sure. So many of these southern lakes are just so damn clear and the fish have seen so many baits...The wind hasn't blown like I've expected it too this winter yet...I'm expecting to get more fish on your bait.
Anyway, you make a fine bait. I would like to order a few more from you and will be contacting you. I would also like to put in an early request for some "hitch" colored MS Slammers. I wake up in a cold sweat thinking about the BASS at Clear Lake this April. I'm sure they'd eat the trout style Slammers, but a special hitch bait might really whack em.

matt,
rob and i have a freind here in atascadero that fishes clear lake all the time and he just whacks em on the medium slammer in the dark color. i havent messed around with the hitch color all that much. i think color is secondary and size and movement is everything.
