Hey guys my folks are going to be at Aurora RV in Nice later this month and have invited me up to hang out for a few days and do some fishing. I was just wondering if anyone has fished in that area, if so how was the fishing? Any help would be appreciated.

Great spot! There's a public launch ramp right by the RV park - like, 100 yards away - with a little playground beside it. Go fish the wall with the pilings & the little island out there. Also, the docks to the north can be outstanding. If you run across isolated weed patches off the bank, they can hold big fish, too. I haven't spent much time fishing the docks to the south of Aurora, so I don't know much about them. Good luck.

Hey Paul thats cool ya get to have some time to go spend time with the family and get to do a little fishing up at Clear Lake. During the open I ended up running to that side of the lake to do some fishing. We launched at Holiday Harbor there is a decent little spot to launch there that is free next to the opening in the marina to the lake. There was a bunch of docks that had some fish on them when we were up there and as I made my row over to the aurora area I saw some of the hazard warnings so I'm sure there are some good rockpiles out there with fish on them. As the other person already mentioned you don't want to pass the island with the pilings I'm sure fish are there year round and I don't know but I'm sure someone caught a decent bag there the other weekend ago and someone will catch a decent bag there at the invite. Moving north from there is a long series of docks with tule patches and it is these tule patches that I caught my 4.5 and 5.2 at the Open on Day 1. The fish might not be as deep in the tules like they were for me when I was at the open but they will probably still be relating to the tules and docks if you throw a chromed or craw crank or dropshot the margaritas or your favorite color around you will probably stick some good fish. From what I heard it would be in your best interest to probably bring a rattle trap and then maybe something to fish a little deeper and slower than you would with the trap. I've only fished over there a couple times so I'm not as in tune with those fish as some others are it would be cool to hear some other perspectives on that part of the lake because there are some people with some real knowledge about that area but who knows if they will be willing to share any info so we can all become better anglers }( Have fun fishing with the family, My dads coming down to cali in September and we'll be fishing together, I know that is what its all about getting out and sticking fish with family and friends.

LOL, ya that's it my own satelite. Actually you can get USGS topo maps and aerial pics of most anyplace in the US from this site. http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/default.aspx I'm studying Spring lake right now to find those hidden creek channels. :P
