Hi; my name is Bill I live in Placerville Ca. I'm new to float tub fishing and not sure how to set it up. Is there anyone in the Placerville area that I can talk to for some help? I've see the Bass n Tubes site very nice. The pictures on the site are great but so much to pick from and I don't know just what I want or need. I'm am retired with lots of time to go fishing.

Thank You. Bill

Hi Bill,

Welcome to Bass-N-Tubes! It is a bit unclear (at least to me) if you are fishing a pontoon boat or float tube but I'll assume pontoon boat. Do you plan on fishing tournaments? Also, what type of pontoon boat do you have?

If you aren't going to be fishing tournaments then you don't need to worry too much about a live well, pumps, or larger batteries. You may want to have a fish finder available though.

I have a pontoon boat and my non-tournament setup is pretty straight forward. I have a rod rack attached to the back cargo area using hose clamps, a small battery for my fish finder, a mount for the fish finder, and another mount for the transducer. After that I just put tackle bags, a cooler, and my life vest on the back cargo area.

A good set of waders are pretty much a must if you plan on fishing winter or spring. I use breathable waders and layer up clothes under them to stay warm. Others use neoprene waders.

Hope this helps some...

Thanks BuzzFish: You were right on about the pontoon boat its a Creek Co. 2009ODC Sport XR. I want to go down to the delta but not sure where to go, and do I have to worry about the tides. Is there any one That I can go with? If so just let me know. I live in Placerville. Is it OK to put down a phone number?

Thanks. Bill:+)

People on here fish the delta all the time. Keep an eye open and you will see someone post about going out fishing and it will almost always be the delta. I am not sure when I will be out next but will be sure to post if I am fishing out of my kickboat.

Personally I know a few places but can't really say I know the delta very well. My bro Swmapy does; he fishes it a lot. You could check our archived tournament schedules for the delta region; the posts typically have maps and directions with them.

I don't know ANYTHING about the North delta but coming from Placerville you could easily go to White's Slough. East on 50 to I-5 South. Take the hwy 12 exit west then take the first left which is Guard Road. Follow it to the end and launch from the levee. This can be a bit of a dicey area so I wouldn't leave anything of value in your truck. I have never personally had a problem but have heard of others...
