#21253, "need help with float tube selection"

I recently purchased a togiak by trout unlimited and it does not have out of water seating and the drag is killing me. I am going to return it and purchase either a super fat cat or a trout unlimited madison pontoon. The pontoon weight 46lbs which is not that big a geal, but will not be as easy to store as the float tube. Does anyone have advise on which boat to purchase. I love the portability of the tube, but the pontoon is the same price as the super fast fat please help.

the pontoon is the way to go, the desing of the pontoons vs. the fat cat make it a lot easier to move through the water.

WELL I THINK I AM GOING WITH THE SUPER FAT CAT IT JUST SEEMS EASIER TO TRANSPORT AND FROM WHAT i HAVE BEEN TOLD IT MOVES THROUGH THE WATER PRETTY GOOD AND SET UP IS EASY COMPARED TO PONTOON. ANYBODY HAVE THOUGHTS TO ADD.

I've owned 4 different float tubes and I'm on my 2nd (last) pontoon. Float tubes are fine and have their time and place, but for the sport of bass fishing, a pontoon all the way!

I have to agree with John. The pontoon is faster, more stable, and it can hold more gear. If you are trout fishing or only plan on using your craft once a month or less, then buy a tube. But if you are bass fishing and you go out every weekend, then you should strongly consider a pontoon.

I have to transport my rig to and from and someone told me that pontoons are a hassle to set up. What i am looking at is a small pontoon by tu called the madison its only 45lbs (that does not seem to bad) and 7 ft pontoon. Very good price at 250 compared to the fat cat at 350. Any thoughts

For about $299 the ODC 816 has 8' pontoons and will carry more weight, up to 250 lbs.

the odc did not get positive reviews and the tu madison is 50 $ cheaper and same weight. I still can't decide to buy the fat cat or a pontoon-
