I`m sure you`ve thrown every swimbait out there.I picked up one of the Huddleston 12' and I plan on throwing it alot at Shasta next weekend. Is there any rigging tips and retrieve techniques that you can share on this particular bait to get the optimum performance out of it?Any tips would be appreciated.Bill

Lol,thats what I hear.I was told oxblood is the happening color there.I also heard the winning weight at a touney this last weekend was just under 8#.I`m thinking if I throw a swimbait and spook most of the day and get one or 2 decent fish and Mike gets our limit dropshotting or darterheading we`ll be ok.Do you know any good spots on the lake to try?If anybody wants to share some shasta info I`d appreciate it and if anybody has some huddleston tips I`d appreciate that also.thx Bill

Hey Bill, do a search of the calfishing forum for Huddleston and there is tons of info about rigging and retrieves and such.

I just huck it to likley looking spots let it sink and do a slow steady retrieve.

I also rig a stinger hook on all my Hudds. Here's an old post with some pics how to rig the stinger.

just about lol

I use 60lb wire with crimps to attach my trailer hooks on any bait. I'd recommend 2 trailer hooks for small fish fishing like shasta. The exact details, I will let you determine through trial and error, but you can't go wrong with a premium hook like owner or gamakatsku.

and retrieve

The hudd is a no brainer. Chuck it out, get it to the depth range you think the fish are at and retrieve it. I think you will be extremely lucky to get a hudd fish at shasta right now, like you mentioned below, the bite sounds like it's in full on suck mode. With a team format, that might not be bad option though. Let your partner try to get a limit and chuck something big all day. It's just super tough on a big lake like that from a kickboat, you can't hit enough areas.

that you can share on this particular bait to get

good luck man.

1/2oz or 3/4oz football-head jig in brown/orange 10'-30' off points.

Sorry, Bill. I don't know the lake that well. If you remember at the Invitational and Open, Jeremy Brumbelow donated some hand made jigs for the raffle. Those are the ticket for Shasta. He has been extremely successful using them to catch the 'bigger' of the small fish Shasta has to offer. I got some from him and they caught fish for me, also.

Steve,
How can I get in contact with Jeremy? I wouldn't mind trying those on Naci. I remember mentioning something about it at the Invitational. I am thinking around 1/2 oz. football, not sure on his color selections...
Thanks,
Bryan

I will see if I can get in touch with him. How soon do you need them? He can make them in any size, color, shape and skirt material. I will let you know.
