Yeah, the Guad can be a pain, as far as launching goes, but when the water's up, there's a decent launch spot toward the back end of the lake, where there's a turnout for parking near one of the winding curves in the road. Someone has actually crafted some steps down from the road that didn't used to be there -- it's a little less hair-raising than it used to be! :D
However, once you're on the water, it's not uncommon to have practically the whole lake to yourself, even on weekends (at least, that's the way it used to be)!
Anyway, there are some decent fish in there (see photos below), although I've had some tough days out there, too!
a nice 4.3:

#27238, "RE: Almaden, Guadalupe, or Stevens Creek?"

lets see, i dont know about almaden or guadalupe, but Stevens Creek is a great reservoir to float tube or using pontoon boats or kayaks or canoes cuz of how small it is (bout 95 acres i think, the lake itself) u have to catch it at one hell of a fishing day because that lake is also known as the Dead Sea to some...If you go there, you will get skunked more than half or even 70% of the time, but a fish there is a relief...my advice, if ur goin to shore fish there, try askin the trout fisherman around the dam if any bass have followed their trout that they catch and if they have, try trout swimbaits...if not that, dropshotting works great, at least for me, in the coves.. but remember DONT EAT THE FISH...MERCURY _____________________________________________________
