Here is some more info. Those of you that presigned with me can pay Matt Sunday morning just be sure you are there by 7am. He will have things set up at the bottom of the ramp. They are giving away a lot of stuff, this will be a fun event. Lets see what BNT member will take home 1st place :)

Mel Cotton’s 5th Annual Bass Tube’n Tournament

When: Sunday, May 6, 2007
Where: Lexington Reservoir County Park
17770 Alma Bridge Rd.
Los Gatos, Ca. 95032
Time: 8am – 2pm (set-up at 7am)
Why: Mel Cotton’s presents this event to promote bass fishing and our local
Bass fisheries. We want to educate the public about fishing. We want more people in Santa Clara County to consider fishing for recreation. We also want to promote the use of float tubes for fishing. Unlike regular boats, they are easily portable, do not require a launch ramp, and are not harmful to the environment in any way.
Cost: Only a $40 entry fee
Optional $5 buy-in for big fish
Sign-ups
& Rules: Mel Cotton’s Sporting Goods
Fishing Department
1266 W. San Carlos St. (at Race)
San Jose, CA 95126

Details: This unique tournament is open to all ages. Only self-powered boats will be allowed (float tube, canoe, kayak, etc.) so you don't need a fancy bass boat to compete. All anglers must have a live well for storing live fish. Some loaners are available.
We have over $1,500 in prizes including rods, reels, float tubes, gift certificates, etc. (1st thru 5th place). There will also be an optional big fish buy-in of $5. All participants must sign-up and pay at or before the mandatory info session at Mel Cotton’s (Monday April 30th). No day-of-event walk-ons will be allowed. We are expecting 40 to 50 competitors.
All participants will meet at 7:30am. In the reservoir parking lot, near the shore, where a 10’x10’ canopy will be set-up for check-ins and weigh-ins. At 8am. The participants will launch and begin fishing. Participants are allowed to keep 4 fish in their live well and cull as needed. Prizes will be awarded to the best anglers immediately following the weigh-in at 2pm. All attempts will be made to release all fish unharmed at the end of the event.
Mandatory Event Meeting Monday April 30th 7:00p.m.

For additional information, call Matthew Squiers at 408-287-5994 or 510-579-0654

Hey Lake, I hope Mike and I didn't make a mistake we are not BNT members and I asked you to put our names down on the other post, I paid but was not able to make the meeting.

Thanks,

The only reason I said BNT members is I dont want to be responsible for people I dont know thinking they can sign up with us here online. I know you guys so your OK. Besides you both have fished a regional with BNT this year and expect you will fish another and at that time you'll need to be members :-)

We voted on a 'one rod at a time' rule, not allowing 2 rods for those w/second-rod stamps. No live bait, 13" minimum, 1/2-lb penalty for dead or short fish (or for late-to-weigh-in, beyond reason), must have a livewell (they had a few available to loan out, but I'm guessing they've already reserved what they had). Tubers leave 10-15 minutes before kayaks & canoes...other than that, they don't want to over-regulate it.

Matt says the key is to have a good time, promote tubing, & hope we'll have some big fish to 'wow the crowd' at the weigh-in. I didn't ask if he's prepared to take photos of the fish/fishermen at the end of the day, but I can only guess they've got that covered. I'll have my camera along just in case.

I'm betting we can get a few over 4 out there, at least -- maybe some 5's, 6's and/or 7's or better. Hope they find their way into my cage somewhere along the way!!! :D

See y'all out there!

Lake you and Jeff both summed it up. It is a new guy running it and will also be going over the rules again sunday. There is supposed to be drinks and hotdogs after. That is about it.

Lake I bet if you went out there again you wouldn't be so bored. It is normally not that slow, but I usually finnese fish.

Taylor
