It was nice to see a new face at Middle River. Sorry, I was so busy trying NOT to fall on my face while helping you 'bag' your fish, I forgot to introduce myself. I was the old guy.... nice to meet you!

By the way, Gordon. It was really neat to see how you could still use your boat with one of the pontoons missing. And it was pretty ingenious of you to bind the oars together to adapt to the situation. So what happened out there? How did you loose the pontoon? Was it one of those three hundred pound delta beavers I saw on Sunday? At least you caught some decent fish under those adverse conditions. More than I ever catch. Good job! Hope you come back to fish with us again. And who knows, maybe you'll find that other pontoon.

ps - I'm just messing with you. Too much time on my hands. Maybe I could try your kayak sometime, if this old body isn't too top-heavy that it will tip over?

You are welcome to try it out, although the side of a levee isn't the best place to get in & out of the thing. I probably won't be able to make the next couple of tourneys but I would like to fish Rancho Seco with you guys. Still need to work the bugs out on a few things...pulling the fish bag around all day was like dragging a drift sock behind the boat. My arms are SO sore today! But it was a good day on the delta -- not too hot, not too windy, and I caught some fish.

Having known and fished with Gordon for over 35 years, I feel I must warn the other members of your club that he is a fishing machine. He will show you no mercy. The only way to slow him down is to snag his jacket with a back cast. Seriously, the G-man's a great guy and a better friend. He will be an asset to your club.I just hope he'll still have time to fish Shasta with me and the Germ in April!
