I just got a Trout Unlimited Togiak float tube. It has a couple foam blocks that go in the seat bottom. They only fit in one way, but appear to be about 2 inches longer than the pocket they go into, so I can't get the pocket flap closed. Anyone else have this problem? Am I supposed to need to trim the foam to fit?
I actually read the instructions, which say it is a very tight fit by design, but they don't say anything about needing to trim the foam, nor compress with 400psi. Am I missing something obvious? Hopefully I'm not just being more stupid than a block of foam.

Pete, I bought one about 3 years ago and had the same problem. I used it for about 6 months and they still never fit. So I finally got a good, sharp knife and just trimmed a little off of each one. A sharp knife goes thru them like butter. You'll be a lot happier when you're done! I also put a very thin, water treated piece of wood inside my seat cover. Made it a lot more comfortable.

I put it in the seat bottom under the foam. It keeps the foam from seperating and helps keep you a little bit higher. If the back rest is uncomfortable, go buy a stadium seat style piece of foam and stick it behind you. It took me several trips to work out all the bugs in that tube. Make sure your straps that go around the pontoons are tight enough.
