After years of waiting and waiting, I finally stuck my new personal best big fish ! I was fishing an undisclosed private pond last saturday when the big girl hit. I was throwing a 5" Senko pretty much the whole day. I threw over to a pocket in between some tules and algae mat. I KNEW there would be a fish there. As soon as I put the bait in there, first twitch, BOOM !! She's on ! I fought here for about 3 seconds and she cam unbuttoned.x( ;( I made 3 more casts in there with no bites. On my final cast, I missed the pocket and was about 4 feet away from it. WHAM ! She hit again and the fight was on. I fought her for about 5-7 mins( She hit every patch of weeds on the way in ) and when I finally got her in, she weighed 5lbs 9ozs, beating my old P.B. of 4lbs 11ozs.

And if that wasn't enough for my day, it got even better. On my next cast, I'm working my Senko back and just about to pull it out of the water when another good fish smacks it. I fought her for about 5 minutes and when she came out I couldn't believe it. She weighed 7.04 Lbs, breaking my new P.B. record !!!!!! :D }( :D }( Did I mention that both of these fish were caught on an All-Star 6'6" Medium action rod, Okuma EF20 reel, and 8LB TEST !!!!!! Yes, 8LB test. It was the best day of the year and probably the best day I've had since I've started bass fishing. My best 5 fish went 17-19 Lbs. A day I'll truly NEVER FORGET. I hope the pictures come out, I was by myself with no camerman x( ;(

Way to go Nick! It's pretty exciting when you are on like that! Now for the double digit club.

I've been trying to beat my personal best since '96 when I caught a 7.3 at Clear Lake. I was fishing with John at the time and he said it might be the biggest fish I'd ever catch. Unfortunately this has been true so far..

Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the open this year. Becoming a new home owner kind of forces you to watch the finances a bit more carefully. I definetly want to get out this season since I've been such a loser and not hitting the water with you guy's :+ , but I will get out 1 day this year. I do wish everyone luck when they get up there, stick um, rip um, and weigh in some fatty sacks ! Thanks for the Big phishy love, I appreciate it. I am now one of you, one of you...................LoL :+

I kown what you mean, I haven't fished any delta region tourneys this year for the same reason. I'm planning to fish the Delta open though, maybe that's the (1) you should fish. }(
