#31249, "Hope everyone had good Turkey weekend fishing"

Well I hope everyone had a nice weekend and got to do some fishing in. I got a text message from Lake from San Antonio so I know he must have been sticking some nice smallies. What about everyone else.

I ended up going to the river on Friday and had an awesome day they were chasing bait all over in the dead end sloughs and marina type areas, it was pretty fun. I caught fish on traps, staycee's, a couple of small spook type baits. It was raining in the morning for the first couple of hours and thats when I got them on the trap and the rip bait, but around 10-11 the rain subsided, but it was still really cloudy. I started to see some shad near the surface and occasionally a some busting along the shore so me and my died both tied up small spook type baits and went to work. It was a blast we got into some largemouth up to 2.5 and even had some stripers, best part of the day was getting a double. Stripers weren't very big but they were up to five and eating on the surface.

On Sunday me and the wong man went out and had one horrible day of fishing. Nick caught one decent striper and I only caught two largemouth, one on a worm and the other on a blade. It was bluebirds and cold as heck andwe just couldn't find the fish, we even got into a spot where the shad were busting and we couldn't get one to bite x( It was just a disappointing day, but still fun to be out on the river :+

Anyone else have a turkey weekend report, lets here it

San Antonio was good on Friday with some killer topwater action all day. Saturday the bite was extremely tough as was sunday morning. Not one smallie this trip though. The water is still way up and warm. Jan. the smallie bite should be great.

Brought back memories (both good and bad!), getting back to the old algae-filled pond once again. Wasn't near as good as I had hoped, but was worth the trip over the hill, nonetheless. I flipped & flipped, for nothing. Did end up with 8-10 squeakers on my drop-shot, but all barely keepers. Got a little action, at any rate.

Couple other kickers showed up, after they went over the hill the *other way*, heading for Chesbro, only to find the winds howling at 30mph (one of 'em is in the club, I think, but - sorry, dude - I'm not familiar enough with him to know which of the newer members it was). His buddy had a t'motor on his k'boat, & they beat me to the far-back cove across from Momo's, or whatever that place was called (looks like they've got some new homes built up over there - alot nicer-looking than that old beat-up camp used to be!). Anyway, he said they got a couple flipping the brush on that other side.

In any case, it was a nice, leisurely day on the water. Too bad that sun's coming down so early, though! I wasn't ready to go home yet when I had to get off the water!

Oh, well...longer days are just around the corner!

Sorry I missed joining you guys. Too much going on at work; Thanksgiving holiday is our busiest weekend of the year. Sounds like Pinto was, well, Pinto-like!

IFISH say's,

Like CZ said, it was tuff when the skies got blue. I got that 2 lb striper within' the first 10 minutes of fishin' and it was blank city the rest of the day. It was brisk and somewhat calm. Still good to get out though.

Hey CZ, glad to see you and your " died " tied on the spooks for the action. :+ :+ Sorry man, had to expose the spelling mis-cue. :+ :P
