The Shasta Region started their season last weekend with a two day tourney at Whiskeytown. Theresa Couts was victorious with 15.47 pounds. She also had day one's big fish and second big fish on day 2. Tim Zandbergen earned second with 13.60 pounds and Vern Learitt rounded out the top three with 9.16 pounds. Congrats to all!

gotta give him a least one fish.didnt want to make him feel left out.it was a real tough lake to fish.i have never caught any fish on that lake .steve and jeremy allways kick my butt.but i showed them.its one of those lakes that you have to fish real slow, and once you find the bait that works you have to stick with it the whole time.my baits of choice were senkos the first day and hoola grubs the second.couldnt have asked for a better weekend. yahooooooooo

most of them in these pics for me was color and spots on the back. Not all of them though. I always double check by the jaw bone though. There are also a couple decent LM in the pics.

Mitch, to me spots just look different than largemouths. Spots are built longer and thinner with skinny tail sections. Their tails seem more like a smallmouth's with a longer/wider V shape. Theresa's day one fish is definitely a spot but now that I look again her day two big fish looks more like a largemouth but that could be due to the angle to the camera. Big spots look like their skin is lean and stretched tight while big largemouths look fatter and softer. In human terms, spots are like a skinny guy with a gut and largemouths are more like regular old fat guys. :+ No offense to any readers of this forum...
