Has anyone ever tried trolling big hammers or similar smaller swimbaits behind a saltwater umbrella rig? I haven't ever heard of someone doing this in freshwater but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm thinking of giving it a try I just didn't know if I was wasting my time and $.

It's a good idea, but per DFG rules you are only allowed 2 hooks per line/pole, if you will used them to attract and have 1 main with hooks I think you'll be ok, I'm not too sure but I'll suggest check all rules and regulation to the type of body you want to apply this idea, good luck!

I live in Japan, but fish Cali a couple times a year. Almost all the jerkbaits I fish (Rapala, Lucky Craft, Megabass) have three treble hooks, or a total of 9 hooks. Is this illegal?
As for the umbrellas, I can not officially answer that question on this forum.
As in the above posts, pls. check with the DFG before you try your "New" rig. Good luck.
