Fished Eldo for a couple hours before dark, its been a month or so since ive actually been back to the lake and its is full of weeds and all kinds of growth. No worries though, in my past experience at this lake it just brings more of the bigger fish closer to hide out in some shade. Fished a 5 inch senko in watermellon w/red&black flake and hooked up w/ 5 fish in 2 hours. Nothing big, the biggest being 2 and change but fun over all. Anybody heading out there the lake is full of growth and in my opinion the only thing worth throwing at this point would be something weightless like a senko or a worm of some sort Texas rigged. I saw another guy out there who was carolina rigging a lizard and he was hooking up on some fish but was pulling up tons and tons of weeds. I probably made six casts to his one, because of the time he was taking to pull of weeds from his bait. Senkos rule!!! laters

Thanks for the report.

I haven't been to the lake in a week or so, but have noticed the weeds getting thick. I had some luck burning a Rat-L-Trap across the tops a couple weeks ago, but it's probably too thick for that right now. I also threw some other top water stuff, but didn't have much luck.

Will be trying the lake again soon. I've heard that early morning and late in the day the top water bite can be good this time of year, although I haven't found that to be true just yet.

I've seen more and more bluegill close to shore - a nice site to see. I'm glad the lake has plenty of "food" for our bass friends. Lots of fry also in the water - seems the lake is healthy and water levels are up.

Nice to hear you catching them on senkos - I've never had any luck with them myself - but will give it another go next time out - having read some tips on how to rig them from this site :)

Managed to fish for the last two hours of light at the park yesterday and I didn't have any luck. Threw the senko, frog, and a pop-r. Nada. Nothing. Didn't see or hear of anyone else catching fish either. Saw one fish in the small lake in area 3 up shallow, but he was easily spooked. The birds are having a field day picking off fry these days. Water was calm and very weedy.
