Nico and I fished today. 15 boats. Blast off at sunrise, 6:51am. Of course a few guys fun fishing headed out a little early and of course they were on our starting spot. Ah well, such is life.
Fishing at McClure seems to follow the same pattern for us. We use a variety of lures, fish all over the lake from the surface to 45 feet, and catch a bunch of spots that are all the same size. This is the 6th time I have been to that lake and it has always been like that. This trip the bass were 1.1 to 1.4 pounds. We also slayed 3 trout and a landlocked king salmon. Couldn't find a squawfish for the grand slam of non-target species...
I reckon we caught a dozen bass and around 9 keepers. I missed one 2lb+ fish on a spinnerbait, darn. Never have had good luck hooking spinnerbait fish. I missed 5 spinnerbait bites and landed one. When I put a treble hook on as the trailer I never got another bite. We weighed 6.66lbs. 7.70 got a check. 15lbs won with an 8.5lb largemouth.
The good news is that the boat ran great and everything worked. What a good feeling. I was probably a bit distracted with all the boat stuff though it's certainly no excuse :) On the open stretches the boat ran 69mph on the GPS. Still getting the feel for the top end.

That's McClure for ya. Usually if you can catch 8 pounds of fish you will get a check. Glad your getting your boat figured out...I guess no one asked to buy any tamales? Good luck at your next tournament.
