Rob, Brian #2, and myself headed up to El Cap for some halibut fishin from the float tubes. Conditions were pretty good when we got there, a little breeze and the occassional decent set rolling through. Rob got a short right off the bat, I hooked up with like a 20, 21 incher within the hour. We worked our way up to the point and had the swell pick up a little. Rob got a couple calico bass, and a short halibut or two. Got kind of bouncy so we drifted back down into the cove. Brian #2, only sporting one fin because his other fin broke, got caught in a small rip, so it took him a little longer... Rob stuck two more halibuts before I got down into the cove, and a few more after that. I got another one that we actually measured cause it was damn close to legal, but not. Brian ruled a mackerel while he was being carried out to sea. Rob ended the day with 8 shorts, 2 calico bass, and a jelly fish. I had 2 shorts, and #2 dominated that mackerel. The tables will probably change the next time we fish Cachuma. -Quick response to the stardust reports down there- Yes, the Stardust is sweet. Yes, Jason and all of his deckhands are sweet. Yes, Jason can compete with the 3/4 day boats. We'll be charging the overnight tomorrow night on the Seahawk, should be fun. -Brian
