#742, "Tournament Final Copy"

Alright guys,
We're doin it this weekend. Because of the requests of some people, and my getting tired of trying to plan stuff, we're just gonna charge it. There are some things to be worked out before then however. Here's what we have so far-

halibut only
5 fish limit
No culling
6am-2pm
boundaries: campus point-the pipe-the point past the slough
entry fee: $20
Pay outs: big fish, big stringer (hopefully for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, it depends on how many show up)

Ok, that's what we've decided is more or less definite. Now, a couple other questions have come up which I am going to need some opinions on:

Do we want to enable chumming?
Should we restrict the kayakers to shallower water? (like the end of the pier instead of the pipe)
Are people interested in turning this into a club eventually?

I think with the earlier weigh in, we'll have time for the bbq, weigh in, BSing, etc. It'll be the first of hopefully many tournaments to come, so I think a getting to know people period is in order.

Alright, I'm looking at Saturday. Why doesn't everybody contribute something to the bbq, like somebody brings buns, somebody else meat etc. I'm expecting 20, 25 people. So, all who can show up, post here and also post what you're bringing to the bbq. I know I forgot something, so if I think of it later, I'll put it up.
-Brian

Brian
I will put all of the rules into a page and link it to the front page. Decide on a date (Saturday?), a location to meet (by the rock at the end of the lot), a check in time (5:30am) etc and email that to me. I'll write it up and we can talk about it and then post it. Wish I could be there but I will be fishing bass-n-tubes delta on Sunday.
So that we are clear, this tournament will be a fun get together of tubers with a little money on the side. I'm going to help facilitate it through the site, but the tournament is not sponsored by calfishing.com or anything like that. Best of luck to everyone who participates.

I'll bring some a couple six-packs of soda...maybe some beer too in a little cooler with some block ice to keep it cold all day.

I think this will be the one and only float tube/kayak tournament. Anything after this will have to be strictly float tubes. There's just too many advantages to consider. The halibut thing is ok, but if we were to have bass or wsb deals it wouldn't work. I've got no problems with kayaks or kayakers, but kayaks and float tubes are just too different to try to compete against eachother. Maybe somebody can take on the kayakers and organize the kayak tournaments and then like once a year or something we could have a float tube vs. kayak halibut derby.

I'm changing the day to sunday. Some guys couldn't make it on Saturday, but can on Sunday, so Sunday it is. Sorry about all the last minute changes, hopefully we'll get it dialed by next month.
