Has anyone ever fished with a panga style fishing rod? You know da kine... 5' to 5'6" with all kinds of backbone, rated 15-40lbs?
I'm looking to piece together a shorter rig for yakfishing big lingcod in the Bay Area and I saw an Okuma 5' for $40 last week at Sport Chalet in Valencia. I think Kencor has a similar make for $120. Supposedly theres another rod that goes by the name of "Meatstick" (hahah).
I'm not looking for anything with a fast tip or too sensitive because I'm typically vertical jigging swimbaits or squid on a leadhead through the potholes in deep kelp cover. I've broken a few tips off my bass gear, which otherwise would be suited for that type of CQB with kelp critters.
