I was in Birmingham, AL in early 2005 and the guys at Mark’s Outdoors recommended three different types of trailers for swimming jigs on the Coosa River impoundments:

(1) Twin tail grub
(2) Sizmic Sassy Toad (Regular or Jr.)
(3) Net Bait Paca Chunk (Standard 3-inch)

I tried out the Paca Chunks and found that they have a “flapping” motion when retrieved that differs from other trailers that I’ve used. I recommend giving the Paca Chunk a try if you like swimming a jig.
