#2379, "Mend-It Glue at TW"

I waited a while to say anything about this product because I wanted to see how it worked over time. It's interesting stuff, and after some real on the water testing, I would definitely recommend it for swimbait and soft plastic repair.

What makes Mend-It different is that it's MEK based, which (and I am no chemist here) seems to melt the plastic around the bonded area, causing it to be just as strong as the plastic itself. That's a poor explanation, but the end result is that it does a great job fixing baits.

Caveats: I wouldn't try to use this stuff on the water, unless you have 10-15 minutes you can wait for it to dry. I find that even in a warm dry room, it takes 2-4 minutes for the stuff to bond, and a while longer to really set. Any kind of water contact during the process mucks things up.

I'd also use mucho ventilation because this kind of stuff is not something you want to breathe at all.

Overall: I have a bunch of hudds and stocker trout that look a lot better now. It's $12 but... when you can sit there and repair $300 worth of baits in one sitting with plenty more glue left in the bottle, it's very justifiable.
