Most of my bigger units have come on lime green scampis( twin tails) in the big sizes. LIME GREEN is the key to success when using the scampis. Like NICKJ says, the bigger the better. Put on a strip of squid or douse it with some kind of scent like Pro-Cure Calico Cocktail. Be patient when fishing the plastics for Bass. Let it sink on free-spool all the way down and work it slowly back. Not too slow but enough to keep the Tails in motion. Be ready on the drop too, they'll hit the bait on the way down alot. Your line will either start to peel off or it will go slack before it reaches bottom. A little trick to try on the retrieve is about a 1/4 way up, let it back down to the bottom and then continue to work it back repeating that periodically here and there. Also, give cut mackeral a try. That seems to work pretty nicely for the grumps but it's more a quality gig rather than quantity. Hope this helps.
