Leapin,
I've been putting a lot of thought in to this and after recieving your emails it seems you have addressed most of the ideas I have come up with.
You had mentioned that many of the enviro's realize we are fighting for the same cause. If we could just make more of them understand that then perhaps they would realize that if they alow catch and release in reserve areas we would stand to be much more of an asset to their cause. Opposed to the direction they are currently persuing were we only stand as obstacle in their path that isn't going to go away.
I was thinking what if the DFG required a stamp to fish these areas and the procedes went to their protection and preservation then they might be a little more giving about this. This would generate money for the Enviro's and we would still have the right to fish these areas under the guidelines provided by the DFG. We would also serve as watch dogs for the poachers who hit these areas. I don't care what they say they're will always be poachers regardless of the laws. Anyone who has put enough time in on the water has more than likely come accross one these people. When we aren't there who's going to be there before dawn calling Caltip to report those thieves. Certainly not enviromentalist.
Have no doubts about it guys there are poachers out there who know exactly what they are doing. The ones that have a clue are the ones who do the most damage to inshore fisheries. The accusations made by the DFG agent who got busted recently for running a poaching opperation pretty much say it all from they're point of veiw. That BAssstrd! Oh well with any luck he'll get what he deserves.
