Went up to Kern river for a little vacation, waiting till after the busy weekend and all the little ones are starting school, only to find that the river was completely full of debris and mud from the surrounding mountains. The fires from last year and recenently plus the severe thunder storms really caused nothing less than a natural disaster to a majority of that river. The mud and ashy mixture was so thick and dense i could not imagine a single fish being able to survrive in that river.Brought rods and was ready to fish but did'nt wet a line or set a toe in the river, kinda sad.
So just to save anybody a trip, the river above Lake Isabella is going to be recovering till at least next year. They will need a good snow melt next spring to wash all the tons of sediment down and hopefully that cleans up the river!I think this is the end of the season for that area anyway and they will be shortly closing the campgrounds but their were alot of disapointed fisherman and kids up there this weekend. I will try to post pics later,it's kinda hard to explain how it hard it rained and the the reality of mother nature flexing her muscle.
