#13273, "Santa Ynez River Report 4/26/04"

I fished the Santa Ynez River (just below the third river crossing below Red Rock) this morning and did quite well. I was throwing a small gold kastmaster and managed to get a limit of rainbows in a couple of hours. the problem was keeping 'em on the hook. i probably lost 20 of them on the way in. i also caught a bluegill and a 10 inch smallmouth bass. tons of fish though the river is pretty low and they are a bit spooky. i might try it again tomorrow (my Adventure Pass is good until 10:00am). the trout were rising like crazy so i will probably try Fly Fishing for 'em next time.
