#1884, "October 5, Rancho Goleta Lake"

I actually decided to go fishing this evening and headed over to the trailer park for a 45 minute session. Figured I could at least break in one of my rodstrainer buzzbaits I'd bought a while ago and haven't used yet. I was glad to see that the never before used buzzbait squeaked more than my veteran buzzbait. There's something about those plastic quad blade rodstrainers, they just seem to squeak right out of the box every time. Anyway, first fish was about 2.75# and fought like a 4#er. Water level was waaay down but I was able to bounce it. Second fish was 1.5#. I must've landed the bait right on his head cause he ate it right when it hit the water. The third and last fish was 2#. That last one ate it right at my feet, over by the bridge. I missed two fish even though I had the gammie trailer hook. One fish must've bit the blade or something cause I had weight and the rod was bent and drag just started to turn the spool before it popped off. Definitely a bigger fish, couldn't even get a crank in after the hookset. Felt good to rip some lips, I've been working too much...
