#4354, "Delta Middle River 6/8" Sat Jun-08-02 02:43 PM
Arrived at the middle river bridge around 5:45a. Started throwing a white buzz bait over the grass flat. First cast, I'm about half way through the retrieve and a TOAD sucks in my buzzbait with out making any noise, splash, nothing. Needless to say, it was early and I was asleep at the wheel. I must have looked for my bait for at least three seconds before realizing I had gotten bit and she was swimming to me. I got in a weak attemp at a hook set, three cranks, a head shake, and then a 3/8 oz buzzbait in my lap. She was 8 lbs easy. So, now I am thinking this area has potential. I continued to throw the buzzbait and picked up two dinks and a couple of blowups but no connection. Around 7:30a the wind REALLY starts to blow. I mean HARD. I decided to work down the riprap wall to the channel and split. I moved quickly down the bank pitching a senko along the outside weedline and was able to pick up two keepers from 2-3lbs and a 7lb catfish. That was a surprise. The thing came inb spinning like a top. I had to remove 5 or 6 feet of line because it had wrapped up in it and got slime all over it. Rough ride back to the ramp, but it was a realativly decent day considering the wind. Off the water by 9:30a. I was hoping to get on a frog bite, but nary a blowup. There is nothing like a frog bite!!!!
