Still wide awake after the heartbreak loss against Germany in the world cup i decided to check out the early morning bite at eldo, glad i did too. Fished the big lake for an hour for one big zero, maybe it had to do w/ the overload of catfishermen there. Its seriously out of hand out there, one guy had like 5 poles spread out like every 10 feet taking up so much space. The back by the ranger station was almost unfishable due to all the people soaking baits out there, oh well i was off to the back lake where i thought id round it up w/ a big zero again. Nope! fished the north end of the back lake and met up w/ Rob back there a deputy sheriff, a we proceeded to whack the hell out of em. He was dropshoting black grape worms when i walked up and wasnt getting bit. I then started throwing a swivelshotted 7 inch Gee Gee bait shaker worm in watermelon w/ red and black flakes and got nailed on my first cast, Rob then switched to bold bluegill color roboworm and hooked up w/ a nice fish right after. I ended w/ five fish w/ one looking like it was in the 3 to 4 pound range but it bulled itself into a huge clump of weeds and broke my 6 pound test. That is actually the best fishing ive ever had at the back lake. Im gonna hit it up early again tomorrow and see if i can have a repeat of today. Finally got some fish back there SJ im stoked!
