Sorry for the late report, but better late than never.
A friend and I hit Upper Castaic from shore July 20th from 6am-10am to do a little bass fishing. The fish were boiling a little and it was really foggy so I tied on a high roller popper bait I got a long time ago and threw it just behind a boil…Two pops later and I got my first topwater bass hooked. The fish was fat (A 3.22# but a little shorter than I expected a 3# to be). Next cast I had another fish miss the bait. We were fishing from the Lifeguard dock by the west ramp
My friend nailed smaller 1# fish on a crankbait in a shad pattern.
We moved around to the west ramp area and I was shocked. I knew the water level was up but the entire point that I used to throw plugs from was under water. A tree I used to fish under was now underwater. It’s the first real flooded brush I’ve seen, but I couldn’t get it to produce. My friend did get a dink dropshotting.
I think that if I had more time and my boat I’d caught more fish, but I was happy with what I got and how I got it.
