As for your suggestion of rigging for Blue Sharks off of peirs, I've had limited success with freelined Macs collar hooked with a 7/0 J, 7' of 120# cable, and a float that the Mac can pull under if it wants to but cant keep down for more than a minute. This is only for peirs and boats though. I've also wrapped a fillet strip around their tail while doing this for more scent. Tie it on with Magic or spawn thread
