Our church's twilite charter on the Western Pride was awesome! Some chop on the way up to Long Beach (long drive but worth it), glassed off soon and was gorgeous and comfy the rest of the night. 44 folks got full limits on the sandies, with many releasing an additional 20 to 30 fish each! The fish plugged the meter from 20 to 72 feet. Solid red. Bait was pinner chovies--kinda worthless. However, the bass really ate the plastics, both swimbaits and twintails. I was even picking up used big hammers off the deck and belly hooking them (wacky worm style) on a jig head with awesome results. A one-stop shop for the bass. In true jackpot fashion, the bigger bass began to bite at the end of the trip. Jon Hursh managed to bounce a last second 5-pound class sandy onboard for the win. Thanks to all who joined us, it was a pleasure fishing with you.
