#10890, "Manhattan Bch 9-26-03"

It's been over a 5 weeks since fishing the surf. This past Friday (9-26) I decided to hit the waves after work to surf. As usual, the waves were pretty lame. Real low tide, real crowded, real sorry. I surfed for about 45 minutes (why?, I dont know) then decided to go to the truck and rig up and fish. Sooo fun! Even with a really low tide I was able to hook into some nice perch. My 2" motor oil w/red flk grub was able to land 6 decent size perch in about 45 minutes. By far these fish were a bit bigger than what I usually catch around here. Usually, the perch that I've caught in the area were in the 6 inch range. The fish caught were easily 8inch+ range. Lots of fun. All fish released. Didn't see any corbs, but it doesn't matter cuz I can never catch those guys anyway.

There was a guy fly fishing also, don't know how he did but he looked to be getting some action also. I've never tried fly fishing but it looks pretty hard to do with the constant whipping action. Anyways, I remember last October I caught a couple of monster perch, I'm hoping that the "big ones" are moving in.
