Went out to Anacapa and Santa Cruz Island with Dave "night8hawk" and Steve "sbabcock-20" aboard my Seaswirl Striper "Big Drum".

Caught a few rockfish on the backside of Anacapa and then went in shallower near the west end of the island and that is where Dave went major bendo on an 18.5lb Sheephead. Here is a pic of the big goat at the end of the day.

Fished the gap for a while for more Rockfish, Sculpin and one more Sheephead. We tried some drifting for Halibut but we couldn't find any biters. Then I got to do what I really wanted to do, which was to throw some 1.75 inch motor oil grubs up on the beach at Santa Cruz island for some Barred Surf Perch. The Perch fishing was a ton of fun and we caught our limit in no time flat. Quite a few triple hook-ups. Here is a pic of me with one of the Barred Surf Perch.

Here is Dave with one of the many BSP that he pulled in, fun stuff on the light tackle. Also caught some big Walleye Surf Perch and Smelt.

Here is the day's catch. The DFG game warden was surprised to see all those BSP when he checked out our fish back at the ramp. Caught limits of Rockfish and Barred Surf Perch and 2 Sheephead and 2 Sculpin . Can't wait to go again.
