That's right I said "Pesky Lingcod!" Those fish that are supposed to be so few and far between wouldn't leave me alone yesterday. I was trying for Halibut and couldn't find one to save my hide, but I did catch 7 Lingcod with 2 of them going over 28". I probably missed that many more too. I also caught 3 rockfish and a bunch of Tommy Croaker. There was bad red-tide in shallow, but strangely that's were all the bait was. I saw more Anchovies than I've seen since last August but all of them were in the red-tide areas. Fishing were the red-tide was I couldn't get away from the Croakers. I tried moving out deeper to cleaner water and either couldn't get bit (mostly over sand) or was wide on the Lingcod. The lingcod seemed to like the clear sparkle belly with the dark green back which I figured would work in the clean water. The croaker tore up anything with a pearl or chartreuse belly. I was using 3,4 and 5" fishtraps on 1/2, 1 and 3oz heads. I was putting crave gravy anchovies scent and while it definitely helped on the first cast after it was put on, it washes off too quickly. I'd recommend Pro-cure bait butter instead. Tight lines, Wade
