I have been fishing the last few mornings from about 9:15am until about 1130am at La Conchita and getting my grubs bit in half. I believe them to be halibuts, and now I know for sure because yesterday morning (Thur) I caught a shortie. It was about 20 inches long and a nice fighter to boot!!! At low tide you can see where all the holes are beginning to form as well as where the trough may be. I was using a 6# pound main line with a 4# leader of Vanish, Carolina rig with a 1/2 ounce egg sinker, and a 3" Mojo motor oil with red flake (Sorry big hammer but you only have 1.5" ones). I casted over several of the forming holes and retrieve it, in and out of the holes when it got bit!! I try switching over to 3" swimbaits but with no luck so I went back to my grubs. I continued to get hits but caught nothing further. It was time to head home for some sleep because I had to work last night (at work right now)and when I get off in an hour and half, its back to La Conchita, maybe for another bigger halibut!!!! You all take care, stay safe, and have a very Merry Christmas, and to all our brothers and sisters over seas, God Bless and thank you!!!! Cali Bear
