Well, was planning on renting a tandem yak w/ frank but when we got there, it wasnt open. so we just decided to throw swimbaits off the pier. the water was a little murky and not really red tide. we were getting bit here and there and frank hooks up and farms a little hali. there was smelt all over the pilings. so we walked down to surfrider beach past the point and frank casts out. 3rd cast and hes on. i switch to a bigger bait and im on too. both little halis. he farms 2 more and then lands a legal one. i land about a 19 inch one. no tape measure but we knew his was legal. we got a few more bites and it just died. all of this was within 20 min. we called it a day and headed back.

all fish caught on 4 inch lemon lime big hammer w/ 3/8 oz head
