I decided to venture way north of morro Bay today. Almost as far north as monterey county line, but everything was super stained because of the swollen creeks. So I was headed back to my regular local spots when I saw a little beach that was perfect. It was about a half mile walk on some private ranch land but well worth it. When I got down there I met a comercial guy who said it had been slow but had about eight fish so far. I started at the north end and worked my way south. When I got to the end I hooked up and I mean in a big way. I thought I had a schoolie striper or something. But it was just one of the big dogs I had been waiting for. This barred perch easily went 2lbs. I hooked up on the next cast but farmed an equally good fish this repeated itself four or five times. I ended up with eight fish in about twenty minutes. Five were big barred, one goggle eye and two calico. Not bad I hope it gets better.<P>j
