I went out on the patriot on wed and we went deep and I mean deep! 320-420ft I fished only 12ozs of jig and took the pot with a 7lb cow cod. That was the only big fish that day. The swell was 10-15ft. and the wind was a howling 25-30knts. I also had the only ling but it was only about 18in. I am going to wait until the shallow h2o (80-120)clears up. I always do great on the lightest jig I can get away with. On calm days I fish 2-4oz jigs. Try using light bass gear in shallow water and it brings new meaning to rock codding!
