What worked for me was to have my wife ride the front seat of my Malibu Two kayak. We just hit the local kelp beds in Santa Barbara on nice days and she really loves it. No extra work for me other than removing fish from her lures, changing lures for her, and watching her catch more fish than I do. :) I do all the paddling from the rear seat and she holds the two rods between stops. If nothing else, it is just nice to be out on the water together and we usually see some marine life (dolphin, etc.)
