#2326, "213 Banks Report"

Alright, Im going to try to make this as short as possible because if I try to add detail I'll never finish this thread. My dad and I had a great time out on the water on Saturday with two brothers that my dad used to beach dive with. Now they have a big comfy private boat and it is fishy. We started out trolling Saturday morning for about five minutes before we hit a school of albies. We had double hookups on the troll and one on a flylined 'chovie. We didnt chum with live bait soon enough so they left. Started out again and in another 5 minutes got another hookup on the troll. We then chummed the bait and the albies went stupid after that. Many times we were all hooked up at the same time. We got our limits in an hour and released the rest. I got the biggest albacore at 25 pounds but one of the brothers got the biggest fish in the form of a 30# bluefin. My dad also busted off a big bluefin. The average albie was 10#. I caught the only yellowtail and the only bonito(released). The bonito was about 10# and the yellow was about 7#. We also ran into a school of fish that looked like spanish mackeral but they were 5 pounds and they were brown on top. I was told on one board they were spanish mackeral.Back to San Diego Bay by 2:00 Saturday so the fish were nice and fresh. Unfortunatly, nothing would touch the FTs on the retrieve or the slide, but still a lot of fun with the bait since I never get to use it. The fleet was at the 390 where it was dead judging by the radio chatter. The highlight of the day was seeing a pool of blood about 6 inches deep in the cooler inside the hull, those albies sure bleed a lot. A nice day, the fish and weather cooperated and not too many sharks. We must have caught about 70 fish. Thanks for letting me share,
Tommy
