Which baitcatching rigging do you prefer? Also, do you have a preferred way to keep your bait alive, and which bait stays alive longest?

I do not have much experience with live bait because I prefer plastics for catch and release. But, if I want to take home one halibut for dinner and they are not biting the plastic I have tried frozen anchovie on a rat trap rig with some success. I believe that I could do even better in catching that one halibut for dinner using live bait.
