I saw them go nuts on Redcrabs one morning in PV this past June. Me and a buddy had a sick bite all to our selves right at day break. I've never seen them go like that on squid and I've been on some wide bites. There where seabass and calicos crashing everywhere. You could look down the coast and as far as you could see breaking fish everywhere coming through the kelp stringers. I've been fishing most of my life and I've never seen anything like that. Nothing even came close. If you've ever seen a huge school of breaking tuna that's what it looked like but remember these fish where in the kelp. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. Of course no camera.

I saw seabass come completely out of the water. They looked like salmon going up stream to spawn. Unreal it was the first time I had never seen sea bass break the surface like that. The calico's where so thick they were actually a menace because they would eat your jig before the sea bass had a chance so you had to sight fish the sea bass and cast on them when you saw a free swimmer or else every cast we were instantly on a 2-4lb calico. It wasn't hard to find a free swimmers they were everywhere and they didn't seem to be too spooky eihter. Unheard of for seabass. After catching several fish I broke out my 8 lb freshwater bass rod and started pitching Senkos at them. They responded with out hesitation. Awsome! The bite lasted for about an hour but the memory will last a life time. Sometimes you just have to be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. You just never know.
