#10377, "Casitas guide trip 4/12/2008"

Just had the great pleasure of going on my second guided trip to lake casitas with Rod Thigpin of Trophy Bass Guide services. My first guided trip took place 6/30/2007 and prior to this trip I was advised that fishing would be tough, but I informed rod I would just like to go out and learn some things and hopefully catch a swimbait fish. Being a true novice to swimbait fishing I really had no expectations of catching a fish of any size. The whole purpose of this trip for me was to learn. True to his word fishing was tough but as the day wore on bites became more plentiful. With every missed bite my confidence of getting a fish diminished. Late in the day I was told, "You've got a real good chance at getting a good fish on this spot", seconds later a fish struck, this time there was no miss, and within a few minutes a fish bigger than anything i've witnessed lay in the net on the boat floor, and Rod's eyes are really big! Needless to say I was pumped and I am thinking I've just caught the biggest fish in history. The fish turned out to be 13.5lbs, and I know that there are guys that get fish alot bigger than that, but for a novice like myself I'm sure we all know that feeling. I cannot say enough about the time I spent fishing with rod that day. I thouhgt that catching a fish like that would maybe make my jaded, or that I might not feel that excited about catching a swimbait fish unless it was bigger. Well this last saturday(4/12/2007)I was able to go out again with rod, and again fishing was tough in the mornings but as the day wore on fish began biting and I was able to break in my new GLoomis 957C with a 5lber and later on after a few missed fish I was able get a 9.25Lbr. Seeing these fish flash and explode on swimbaits showed to me that there is no greater sport in the world than swimbait fising. I can assure you that I am forever hooked, and that I owe a tremendous amount of thanks to rod for his patience and dedication to this great sport. I would like to send out my highest recommendations to his guide services. If you truely would like to spend one of the finest days of your fishing life, this would be one great way to do it. He is extremely open and would love nothing better that to get you a true trophy fish.
