How does everyone do it?

Big Bait fisherman develop milk runs where they hit a spot for a few casts then move on to another spot. This is easy in a boat but how do people who shore fish do their milk run?

Are you more likely to stay in one spot changing baits or stick with the same principle of only making a few casts looking for the active fish and walking to another area? Keep in mind I am talking more about fishing with swimbiats and not plastic worms.
