I heard a comment by the master (Mike Long) about using scents on swimbaits. He said he uses them so that when the fish hits it it goes in their mouth easier and feels more natural to the fish. I thought that was really interesting and it made sense. It's similar to they way I feel about using bass feast smelly jelly mixed with bang scent on my jigs ( I spray bang in the jar of smelly jelly ). I think the fish hold on longer and I also think it helps with the jigs' swimming action and snag resistance. Use a jig with a brush hog trailer and watch it closely with and without scent. When you lather it in bass feast and bang oil it will be much more active in the tail and much more "slithery" in the cover.
