I was at my local lake as this last storm cycle blew into Northern California. I started throwing a trout pattern super spook as there was a good top water bite. I hooked up about a 1 pound, 12 or 13 inch fish on my favorite point and started skipping it across the surface to bring it in. When it was about 5 or 6 feet from my boat a very large bass shot in from behind and slammed it!!! Right at my feet! My spook went one way and my two fish went the other! I was left watching the swirl and the splash with no fish to show for it. Has anyone else encountered this type of ferocity? If so, what is the best way to follow up on that fish?
