Bluebird skies, windy(10-12 mph?), cool(high 50s), and turbid water with about 1-2' visabilty at the swamp pond today. I started at 10:30 AM and stopped at 2 PM. Only got the one Bass. No "Trophy" Bass but since it's a swimbait, I thought I'd post it.
One wacky-rigged Senko bite near the dam but I missed the hookset and nothing else for about 2 1/2 hours. Saw a 5-6' 'gator and the Anhingas(water turkeys) were doing their thing; swooping over and over the pond, scaring the Bass I'm sure.
Finally, I got bit on a new-to-me Japanese Javallon swimbait. I'd thrown it weighted(1/2 oz tungsten) for an hour or so after I'd gotten no hits on it weightless(the recommended rig I think?) at my boss's pond. I figured the Bass would be hugging the bottom or hidden due to those blasted birds. But then I took the weight off and threw it weightless(5/0 Sugoi hook) and finally got a bite. She came out of 8-9' of water to hit it right at the boat:
