#13242, "The Caro Report"

I fished my very first boat tourney Sunday. This was with the Delta Region of the B.A.S.S. Federation sercuit. What a blast it was!and very well organized. Todd, you guys got to start fishing these. It rained all night until ½ hour before checkin. I pulled a real cool partner and fished in the back of a 20' Cobra. The guys name was Tom some thing. He used plastic and small jigs all day. We blasted off at 6:30 am and we were the second ones out. There where 29 anglers total and there was more boaters than non-boaters.

We hit one of my most favorite spots first thing and started flipping on down the tulie bank. We came up on this old wrecked ship and I started throughing a Picasso Blade parallel to the wreck and B.I.N.G.O., fish on.Oh yea baby.
I landed my first Federation fish, 4.14 pounder. Oh yea baby. Then my partner started troughing a blade for about 5 minutes before he went back to his plastic. He nailed one about 5 minutes later while flipping a little tiny brown jig.

We didn’t get bit for a while after that. Then at around 1:00 he nails another small fish pitching the same small jig. He had 6 bites for two fish and I had 2 bites for 1 fish. Out of the 29 anglers, this round tuber came in 12th place and tied one of the boaters for big fish. Oh yea baby, big fish. I couldn’t have asked for a better day! Great weather, cool partner who was also a safe boat operator. All the people where friendly.

They are very much like our club in the way that there are all the different levels of ability. Several of these guys knew of the S.C.B.B.B.C. & Bass N Tubes. At check in, it was very much like our's with the exception there wasn’t any one with a light on his hat or waders on. Other than that, it was business as usual.

If you guys out there haven’t fished one of these federation show, you should try it. I learned a lot about the delta, and after fishing 4 more tourneys, I’ll know a lot more. Check out the B.A.S.S. California federation web page for all the info.

See ya all at Mickey D’s
